BBC environment correspondent Richard Black is the first journalist to visit the research ship Chikyu while it is drilling for rock cores from the quake-generating Nankai Trough to explore what causes tremors.I wrote a teacher's guide for an ODP educational CD-ROM (~225 Kb pdf) some years back, and was impressed with the elegance and power of deep sea drilling, so I'm looking forward to further posts from this project.
